1) This week we are digging into Non-Communicable or Chronic Diseases.  Public health messaging and research are quite prolific in terms of what are the causes of many of these conditions, what are the obstacles, and what are the 'cures.'

2) There are 3 (three) videos this week that you will watch that posit slightly differing viewpoints on what causes but also what cures Non-Communicable or Chronic Diseases.

3) I want you to consider all of these videos, our class discussion, and the learning materials for this week and respond with what you think is the most impactful way for us to effect change and prevent this growing epidemic.

4) In your post and responses I want you to pay special attention, not just to what you think are the causes, but to move beyond cause and think planning, messaging, and intervention (as we did in class in Week 5) and taking it beyond the social dimensions of health (from Week 3/4).

1) The reflection essay is intended to be a chance for you to creatively respond to the movie and readings assigned for the week.  It should be 250-350 words long.  Outside of that, it can pretty much be about whatever you want.

For example, you could:

-Talk about how you've had similar experiences to those shown in the movie

-Do some research and report about information that provides additional context for the movie

-Explore what implications this area has for your future career path

-Discuss an element of the movie that was particularly interesting or disturbing

I also want to note that the reflection does not need to be written formally (i.e. don't stress about style), it is more about the ideas that you share.  That said, it should have enough structure that a reader will understand what you are trying to get across.  Also, the reflection should NOT be a summary of the movie; we have all seen it so you can assume that we know what you are talking about.
