Student life in China - Treatment of foreigners during the cultural revolution

Comparative Book Review

Compare and Contrast: Analytical Review

Students should carefully select two books and write an analytical review, modeled after those in the Sunday New York Times Book Review, the New York Review of Books, or World Politics. The review should compare and contrast two accounts with a common theme (e.g., student life in China; treatment of foreigners during the cultural revolution; criminal justice in China; visions of the U.S. officials about China; the student movement in 1989; etc.), selected from the following list. The books on the list are mostly biographical, autobiographical, or third person accounts of life in China. Some predate 1949, others portray life in the early years of Communist rule, still others on life in the reform era in the last two decades.

My two books are:

1). Zhao Ziyang, Prisoner of the States: The Secret Journal of Zhao Ziyang

2). https://archive.org/services/img/timetohealautobi00ford

I will also attach an essay reading to use as an example to give you an idea of what the Professor is looking for.

We want to do an analytical review of the two people in these two books, 1). Being the late President Gerald Ford and 2). The late Chinese Former Premier Zhao Ziyang.
