Thematic issues that establish context for analysis - Thesis

Instructions of paper requirement information

This paragraph (Thesis Statement) will present the research work. Contains 5 sections. 1) The topic, 2) The thesis, 3) The method, 4) The structure, and 5) An anticipated conclusion.

Explanation of the above

1) THE THEME In this section we will present the thematic issues that establish the context for analysis. They can be historical contexts, theoretical developments, discourses associated with the thesis — any piece of general information that prepares the reader to understand the arguments that will follow.

2) The thesis is a statement or affirmation — it is not a question or what you propose to achieve — it is what you propose to prove / establish in your presentation - for example— “In love and other demons there are a series of oppositions: (1 ) sacred-demonic, (2) European-African, (3) material (flesh) and immaterial (spirit) that exemplify Latin American reality on a cultural and spiritual level ”—must be direct, concise, and perhaps controversial.

3) The method is an explanation of how one is going to check the thesis — specifically what kind of analysis will be used to support or defend the thesis. The list of methods is a series of analytical exercises that you have to complete to defend the thesis - sometimes they are descriptions of technical terms, or compare elements of the work, or determine meanings of symbols or characters, or propose structural or symbolic analysis of the play. For example— “I am going to form three lists of oppositions–

(1) sacred-demonic, (2) European-African, (3) material (flesh) and immaterial (spirit) - with the objects that these illustrate. Next, I'm going to analyze a character that illustrates each opposition - I'm going to show evidence and use logical arguments to show why the character symbolizes the opposition. Then I will form arguments to support the connections between oppositions and characters - answering the question

What does El Che mean to us symbolically by associating the characters with different oppositions - finally, I will connect the interpretations of the characters with elements of cultures from Latin America to see if Demons contains a message or meaning at the Latin American level "Of course this part has to be developed in its own way - because there are different methods - here we have decided to work with the symbolic oppositions and the associated characters - other methods

They can be a study of the internal intentions or desires of characters, analyze the subject of syncretism or cultural mixtures, analyze the characters in terms of archetypes, which ideology defends the work, compare and contrast characters, techniques, ways of representing in the work, etc.

4) For the structure, the divisions or sections of the work must be presented in outline or narrative form - it is easy to see that your method can determine the structure - but it does not have to imitate the order of your method because here in this section you can elaborate more on the implications of what you propose to do with the method –

1. “In the first section, I am going to prepare three lists of oppositions and specific elements (events, symbols, attitudes) of the work that represent them.

2. I will present evidence from the novel and analytical articles to support the connection between each element and the associated opposition.

3. Then I will see how different characters exemplify oppositions by analyzing their actions, words and attitudes to verify the connection between character and opposition. If the character represents an opposition, I want to see how GGM justifies or explains two opposites within the same character - at the character level, do these oppositions create instability?

4. Finally I am going to see if the oppositions that belong to the work and to specific characters of the work can be applied to the culture of Latin America in general. "

In each section, we must remember that we want to support the thesis by presenting strong arguments in favor of the initial statement (the thesis) —so the different sections will have their mini-thesis. If you want to add secondary points under each section by filling in data or different types of arguments, you will have a more complete outline.

5) The conclusion can be used to summarize, attract the reader, highlight something controversial, propose rhetorical questions, etc.
